Chiquita supports Sustainable & Organic Kids program at Cincinnati Museum Center

CINCINNATI—Cincinnati Museum Center is excited to welcome one of our newest business partners, Chiquita Brands. Chiquita has pledged $5,000 to support a custom-designed program to support Chiquita’s corporate philanthropy focus on nutrition and the environment through the Sustainable & Organic Kids program series, presented by our Duke Energy Children’s Museum.

This support marks a partnership between Chiquita and Cincinnati Museum Center that builds on the growing importance of sustainability, which has prompted both organizations to take action in preparing future generations to lead healthy and environmentally conscious lifestyles.

“The Cincinnati Museum Center is renowned for its rich, creative-learning environment,” said Fernando Aguirre, Chiquita chairman and chief executive officer. “This program serves children at the optimal age to form healthy nutrition habits that will last a lifetime. We are proud to advance our goal to improve world nutrition by empowering thousands of children in our backyard with better childhood nutrition and the care of our environment through sustainable gardening.”

The Sustainable & Organic Kids program, presented by the Duke Energy Children’s Museum, offers hands-on learning activities for children 12 years and younger. Comprised of fun and educational activities, the program series focuses on topics such as nutrition, gardening, nature, art, and the environment.

“Cincinnati Museum Center is dedicated to inspiring lifelong learning,” said Tony Lawson, director of the Duke Energy Children’s Museum. “By providing fun and interactive learning opportunities to youth, we can encourage future generations to take care of both the environment and themselves.”

The programs expect to host 5,000 children this year. Upcoming programs include:

• Bright Ideas: Window Box Gardens- March 26, 11 a.m.
• Young at Art: Watershed Art- March 29, 3 p.m.
• Super Sprouts: Victory Gardens- April 18, 11 a.m. and April 21, 2 p.m.
• Super Sprouts: Arbor Day- April 25, 11 a.m. and April 28, 2 p.m.
